A Revolutionary Approach to Sciatica Treatment

Does Every Movement Hurt Because of Your Sciatica?

If this is the case you need to contact us now, as without treatment, worsening sciatica, becomes more difficult to resolve.

Are You Unable To Pick Up Your Child Without Pain?

Sciatic pain can be excruciating and treatment that fails to address the cause of sciatic pain often has little to no effect. This can lead to mounting costs on ineffective treatments. Start your treatment with us and you can be sure you’ll save money and have the best chances of success.

Sciatica Treatment Can Help You When Done Right.

When you visit The Mayfair Clinic, you will be thoroughly examined to establish the cause of your sciatica. Treatment will then be focused on the injured structures, be them the discs or small ligaments around the spine. How long you have had your sciatica and how many repeat episodes you’ve had will dictate how many treatments you are likely to require. But most patients will feel a relief of symptoms from the first one or two sciatica treatments!

Outdated approaches to the treatment of Sciatica will normally involve manipulation, massage of the Piriformis (a small muscle on the back of your hip) or a combination of exercises and hands-on treatment (including acupuncture).

The problem with these treatments, however, is that they are only working on the symptoms and reactions to the causes of sciatica. For sciatica treatment to really be effective, your individual symptoms must be distinguished from the root cause of the problem.

The Clinic Approach to Treatment of Sciatica

We understand that Sciatica treatment will never be successful unless treatment targets the source of pain. Establishing which tissues are injured and need repairing is our priority. This allows for superior treatment results that last longer, with better healing and more complete healing, with less scar tissue formation.

The Technical Aspects of Sciatica

Sciatica is a compression or irritation of the sciatic nerve which originates in the lower back from the lower lumbar and sacral nerves. Most commonly it is either the L5 or S1 nerve root that is irritated giving you the symptoms of sciatica. These nerve roots are located in the lower back and arranged in pairs either side of your spine.

Sciatica Treatment

You might have heard that the piriformis muscle (mentioned earlier) can cause sciatica, however, there is conflicting research on how true this statement is. Once more, you might be interested to know that the piriformis muscle itself is supplied by these same nerve roots (L5 & S1). Is Piriformis “tightness” just another symptom of sciatica – or should we say irritation of the sciatic nerve roots? (for more on sciatica click here)
